Inmate at Letcher County jail dies

WHITESBURG, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of a Letcher County jail inmate.

Police say 55-year-old Terry Cantrell of Jenkins died Saturday after being taken to the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital in Whitesburg because he was in and out of consciousness and vomiting.

Police said in a statement that a preliminary investigation shows Cantrell was treated and released from the hospital earlier in the day after complaining of dizziness and stomach pain.

An autopsy will be performed in Frankfort.
