Inmate escapes from Bell County Forestry Camp

Police are searching for an inmate who walked away Thursday afternoon.

Joe Michael Spoonamore escaped from the Bell County Forestry Camp around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.

Spoonamore, who is from Rockcastle County, was serving a 12-year sentence for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and drug charges.

He is 36-years-old, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 175lbs, brown hair, and brown eyes.

Spoonamore was eligible for parole in June 2013.

Officials say he may be traveling toward Rockcastle County.
