Knoxville, Tn (WKYT) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation officially reopened all lanes on I-75 South in Campbell County Friday.
Traffic has been affected in that area since a landslide first occurred near Mile Marker 143 on March 8. Work was originally expected to be completed on September 28.
“I want to applaud the work of our TDOT employees, as well as our contractor, in delivering this project more than a month early,” said TDOT Commissioner John Schroer. “Approximately 160,000 tons of graded rock and 206,000 tons of solid rock were put in place to rebuild the southbound lanes.”
With the exception of final pavement markings on the northbound lanes, all work on the project is now complete. The state says the pavement markings are scheduled to be finished by the end of next week, and will require no lane closures.
