MINGO COUNTY, WVa, (WYMT/WSAZ) - West Virginia State Police are investigating a brutal attack that left two men dead, on Wednesday night.
"The victim, Alfred Curry, was able to leave the residence on foot," Trooper Cody Douglas said. "He made it a short distance down the roadway, where he collapsed, due to his injuries, which were quite severe."
What happened after that, was a bizarre chain of events.
Curry's brother is County Commissioner David Baisden. When he arrved on the scene off Elk Creek Road, the supsect, Phillip Gilman, got in Baisden's truck and ran over Curry in the middle of the street, killing him.
Louise Diamond says she lived with Curry for 25 years.
"My heart is breaking" Diamond said. "These men knew each other and it's just so tragic."
