KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One Knox County man is in the hospital after Sheriff's deputies say his own sister stabbed him! However, deputies say she stabbed him in self-defense.
Knox County Sheriff's Deputies say a family fight at a home on Route 1803 led to a stabbing. Deputies say Michelle Siler stabbed her brother, Ricky Cox.
"Upon arriving at the scene, Ricky Cox was laying on the porch with his dad holding him. You could tell right away he was very intoxicated," said Sheriff's Deputy Brian Hensley. "Ricky had come home very intoxicated, started to fight with everybody, got into a fight with sister."
Investigators say his sister grabbed a steak knife and stabbed him just below his arm pit.
Cox was flown to the University of Tennessee hospital for his injuries.
There are no charges filed for the stabbing.
"We'll be talking with the Commonwealth's Attorney. This case may be presented to the grand jury, but at this time, we're looking at it as self-defense," said Hensley.
The family did not want to do any media interviews but deputies say they are helping with the investigation.
"The family was very cooperative. They're good people," Hensley said.
Deputies say Michelle Siler suffered some scrapes and bruises, but was not seriously injured.
There is no word on Cox's condition.
