We have learned the Brody Mine was cited in 2013 for a pattern of violations found during a 12 month review that ended last August.
The MSHA report, which is attached to this story, states the violations show the mine had a disregard for the health and safety of its miners at the time the violations were issued.

West Virginia State Police confirm to Huntington-Charleston CBS affiliate WOWK the two miners killed overnight died in a roof collapse. We do not know what led to the collapse.
We are told one of the miners was identified by family members as Eric Legg. No word yet on the other miners identity.

West Virginia State Police confirms two people are dead following an incident overnight at the Brody Mine #1 in Boone County.

Huntington-Charleston CBS affiliate WOWK is now reporting one person is dead following an incident at a mine in Boone County, West Virginia.
Family members of the victim told the station they found out about the death a little while ago.
