Walter Roark
Police say Stephanie Roark had not been seen since mid-June. But following multiple leads brought them back to her husband, Walter Roark, and a major break in the missing persons case.
"After interviewing and getting through all the information, he did make the statement where his wife's body was located," said Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson.
Roark told the police that he buried her body under their home out of panic.
"The statement that he made to deputies was that she had actually passed away from what he believed was a drug overdose. And that's why he did what he did as far as burying her underneath the trailor," said Johnson.
the Roark's teenage son doesn't believe his father is guilty, but instead someone else did it.
"I never thought daddy would do something like that. I still don't. I said, I just told them they better get to them before I do."
For now, 45 year old Walter Roark is being held in the Clay County Detention Center charged with murder and abuse of a corpse. no bond has been set.
