JACKSON COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Days after issuing a strong challenge to President Obama and any efforts to curb gun ownership in the United States, the sheriff of Jackson County shared his views on Fox News Monday night. The interview originated from WYMT'S studios in Hazard.
Sheriff Denny Peyman says no matter what decisions come down from Washington, people in Jackson County will be able to keep their guns. He says people in his county need guns for protection.
"Our county's going to carry weapons regardless. If something like that passes, they're just going to hide them. They're going to bury them," he said. "They're going to have their weapons."
A Facebook page has been set up in support of the sheriff, and the group says it is planning to march in Frankfort in protest of gun control.
