HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - A jail escapee missing for nearly two years is now a suspect in a Harlan County home break-in.

Police say 29-year-old Brandon Saylor walked away from the Marion Adjustment Center in 2011. No one has seen him since then.

Harlan Police say on February 1st, a man went to a home on Ivy Hill and threatened the woman inside with a gun.

"Knocked on the door, forced his way in the house, and told the female victim there he was owed some money, grabbed a couple of guns, and fled the scene," said Mike Thomas, Harlan Police Chief.

The man who lives in the home believes the robber is Brandon Saylor, his step-son.

Harlan Police say Saylor escaped from the Marion Adjustment Center in March of 2011 and has not been seen in Harlan since before his arrest.

"Everybody has always assumed he would be in that area. He grew up there," said Chief Thomas.

The victims say the man ran into the woods behind the home. Police have extensively searched the area but not found him.

"Since then, we have not heard or seen him since then," said Chief Thomas.

The crime victims did not want to talk on camera but say they are cooperating with police and hope to find Saylor and get their guns back.

Police say anyone helping Saylor could also be charged.

"If they are knowingly helping and hiding, they are harboring a fugitive and they could go to jail as well," said Chief Thomas.

Police say he should be considered dangerous until he is found.

Anyone with information on Saylor or the home break-in should call the Harlan Police department or Kentucky State Police.
