Jeb Bush to help Williams raise campaign money

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will headline
a private fundraiser for Republican gubernatorial candidate David
Williams next week in Louisville.
U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell also will be at
the Aug. 25 event, which will cost $250 to $1,000 to attend.
State Republican Party Chairman Steve Robertson said Bush's
arrival in Kentucky shows that national GOP leaders are interested
in the governor's race.
Already, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, who had been considered
a prospective Republican candidate for president earlier in the
year, has been in Kentucky. The Williams campaign said in a
statement that Barbour helped "raise hundreds of thousands of
dollars in June."
Williams is challenging Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear in the
Nov. 8 election. Independent candidate Gatewood Galbraith, a
Lexington attorney, also is in the race.
