One week after his murder conviction, Jeffery Allen was sentenced in Letcher County Circuit Court.
A recommended life sentence was handed down with thirty days to appeal.
The judge denied a chance for parole, saying it would diminish the seriousness of the crime.
The judge also said parole is also prohibited by a KRS statute.
Allen was convicted of killing his 2-year-old foster child, Dakota Yonts in 2003.
