The city of Jenkins appointed a new police chief. Allen Bormes will now lead the department. The mayor said the city council thought it was better for the city to have a change in command.
“Especially with today's world of drugs and with today's world of copper thefts and all the things that are going on related to that drug world, we needed what I thought was a stronger leadership and someone who would know how to command a group of men,” said Mayor G.C. Kincer.
Bormes will replace Adam Swindall, who will continue to serve as an officer in the department. Swindall has been the police chief for the past four years. The mayor said he believed one day Swindall may return to his duties as chief and is an excellent patrolman.
