HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) After more than 12 years on the air at WYMT, Chief Meteorologist Jim Caldwell will be leaving in July.
Jim will be transferring to our sister station WKYT in Lexington. He accepted the weekend meteorologist position.
"It's a bittersweet day. Obviously, we hate to see Jimmy go, yet at the same time we are very happy for him and his family as they embark on this new adventure in their lives. Jimmy started fresh out of high school and we have all watched him grow up on WYMT. He has become a trusted and well respected friend to everyone in the mountains, especially during severe weather events. We will miss him, but he's not going far. We will see him on WYMT again from time to time. We wish Jimmy and his family all the best," General Manager Neil Middleton said.
He will begin split duties between Hazard and Lexington beginning June 15th.
During the transition he will work three days in Hazard and two days in Lexington.
His final day at WYMT will be July 26th.
