Original Story (7-8-13):

He is a man who had hopes of being the next Johnson County Sheriff. 42-year-old, John Kline, now sits behind bars facing federal drug charges.

An 18-month probe came together on Friday as the Johnson County Sheriff's Office made what they say is an important arrest in their fight against drugs.

Deputy Richard Salyers explains, "This will take a lot of prescription drugs out of this area which we greatly need."

The sheriff's office along with Kentucky State Police, Operation UNITE, and The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives set up a buy bust on Kline.

In March, Kline filed his statement of intent to run for Johnson County Sheriff.

Sheriff Dwayne Price says, "He actually came in here and handed me a card and told me he inteded to run. Obviously that's not what we need in this county if he is selling drugs."

Officials at the Johnson County Sheriff's Office classify Kline as a mid level drug dealer who they say brought thousands of pills into the community from mulitple states.

After his arrest, a search warrant was executed at his residence where officials seized additional drugs along with 18 firearms.

Sheriff Price says, "He is facing multiple trafficking charges, he will be facing these in federal court...the federal charges are pending."

Kline is being held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention center on a $50,000 cash bond. He denied our request for an interview.
