He's the leader of his community and now his daughter is in jail facing drug charges.

Thirty-year-old, Amanda Smith is the daughter of Jackson County Judge Executive, William Smith.

She is charged with manufacturing meth, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

While tackling the community drug issue has always been a top priority, he understands the issue can't be solved overnight.

“She had at least recently been talking about at least entering a treatment facility of some type. Which was encouraging, only to find that's she's been caught doing something she shouldn't be doing,” Judge Executive Smith said.

Judge Executive Smith plans to work with drug fighting agencies and to offer programs to educate the public about the impact these drugs have on people.
