HYDEN, Ky (WYMT) - A Leslie County man is convicted of killing two people just days apart in 2009.
The trial for Charles Dwight Watts began on Monday and finished up Friday afternoon.
The jury convicted Charles Dwight Watts on all charges including two counts of murder and one count of robbery.
During the trial evidence from the medical examiner showed Kelly Johnson had been shot in the head at close range.
The medical examiner said Chad Muncy had been stabbed multiple times had head trauma and his throat was slit.
The victims families say they feel justice was served.
"We just cried. It's just so emotional, just to hear 'guilty' and to know that the person sitting on the other side is the one that took a father, a husband and a grandfather away from his family, and a great man away from his community," said Kelly Johnson's daughter Jamie Johnson Sizemore.
The jury recommended a 20 year sentence on each murder count and 10 years for the robbery.
No one from Charles Dwight Watts' family wanted to comment, but his attorney did told Mountain News they were disappointed with the verdict.
Sentencing is set for January 2nd.
