WYMT Severe Weather Alert

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for all of Southeastern Kentucky until 10pm tonight. The primary threats from this system will be strong winds and large hail. Isolated tornadic activity certainly can't be ruled out of the equation.

Jury selection begins in murder case

MONTICELLO, Ky. (WYMT) - Jury selection is underway in the trial of a couple charged with killing her 18-month-old son.

Kayla Lord and her boyfriend, Jared Futrell, are both standing trial in Wayne County for murder and criminal abuse.

Prosecutors say the two killed her 18-month-old son, Staten Stephenson, back in July of 2011.

Police say the toddler had a fractured skull and torn stomach.

The couple's trial is slated to last all week.
