PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville held their annual 'Run for the Island' motorcycle ride on Saturday.

The event draws bikers from the area out to support the state police and their youth camp at Trooper Island.

Troopers say they enjoy being able to get out and interact with the community and are thankful for the community's support.

Sgt. Chris Hollon says, "Proceeds go to help children go to Trooper Island. It is a one week event they go down there and do hunting, fishing, and interact with the state police."

KSP officials say Post 9 has been putting on this motorcycle ride for more than fifteen years.
