FRANKFORT, Ky. - (WKYT) A Kentucky State University football player is facing charges in Chicago.

Chicago Police arrested quarterback Martez James, 22, this weekend. He was there to play against Albany State University.

According to the Chicago Tribune, James is accused of rubbing his body against a housekeeper after allegedly following her into a hotel room at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. The team was staying there while in town.

Chicago Police tell WKYT James was arrested near the hotel. He was released from jail on a personal recognizance bond.

No one from KSU is commenting on the arrest of James. The school did issue the following statement: The University is aware of the allegations against Mr. Martez James and is currently investigating the matter. We have no further comments at this time as the investigation is pending. Mr. James remains a member of Kentucky State University's football team."

The university did not say if James will play in the next KSU football game.

Students are surprised after learning about the allegations against James.

"He's very flirtatious. but as far as physically putting himself on somebody or touching them, I think he has more respect for somebody to not do something like that," says Jasmine Vane, a junior at KSU.

"I used to be a cheerleader so I've been around him for awhile. I think I know him well enough to know e wouldn't do anything like that," says KSU student, Desirae Favours.

WKYT contacted the Hyatt Regency for comment about the incident.
