KU proposes rate hikes

Updated: Mon 11:54 PM, Nov 19, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky Utilities leaders have announced proposed rate hikes, but they're not as high as first anticipated.

KU has proposed a 5.8 percent increase. That's around $4.82 per month for the average customer.

A few months ago, KU has asked for a higher increase. The Kentucky Public Service Commission still has to approve the rates. If that happens, they will take effect in January.

KU has also proposed lowering the late payment charge and extending the time customers have to pay their bills.
