The Kentucky Department of Transportation wants to give drivers fewer headaches on a busy road in Laurel County.
A public meeting was held to get their input on what to do with U.S. 25. Officials said that there are more options than simply widening the road, which officials say is the most congested one in the area.
“Widening is just one option,” said Jonathan Dobson of the Department of Highways.
“Another option on the table for essentially building a new section of 25 which would bypass the road and this would be done to direct traffic away from south laurel high school and give folks from London to Corbin a straighter shot.”
Dobson said this is part of a long range improvement process and a plan should be ready by 2013. The next public meeting will be held next summer.
