Kentucky First Lady reads to a Perry County head start

Updated: Fri 6:18 PM, Mar 08, 2013

Kentucky's First Lady Jane Beshear read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" to toddlers at the Perry County Early Head Start. This is part of the Kentucky Literacy Celebration

The Kentucky Literacy Celebration is focused on helping to increase awareness about childhood literacy.

Beshear says parents should read to their children because the learning process begins at infancy.

"Whether we are very young like these children today or whether we are very old, that the more we read, the more we know, and the more we know, the more we achieve," said Beshear.

The celebration includes trips to schools across the state.
