Kentucky Utilities can't seek charges against meter reader who caused inflated bills

Officials with Kentucky Utilities say they're still working to resolve a bad situation, after thousands of customers got electric bills that were much higher than normal this month.

Most of those bills were hundreds of dollars higher than expected. KU officials say a meter reader, contracted from TruCheck, incorrectly read meters, causing those customers to be undercharged for months.

Thousands of customers in Anderson County were affected, along with some customers in Woodford County.

KU officials say the law does not allow them to pursue charges against the meter reader.

KU did request the meter reader be fired, which TruCheck did.
