HENDERSON, Ky. (AP) - A western Kentucky plastics company where
a flash fire injured four people has been fined $26,650 by state
labor officials for a series of safety violations that
investigators found serious.
The Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet released a series of
citations Thursday issued to Polymer Partners LLC in Henderson
between 2004 and 2008. The citations covered a range of violations,
including using power-operated industrial trucks in atmospheres
containing hazardous concentrations of explosive dust.
The fire at the plant Wednesday injured four people. William
Swope with the Kentucky Fire Marshal's Office said two of the
injured people were improving and that the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration is conducting a probe. Swope said the cause
of the fire remained undetermined.
