Last week the Big Blue Nation turned out all across the state to get a glimpse of the National Championship trophy, Coach Cal and part of his staff.
For a Bowling Green teenager the chance meeting turned into a dream date to her prom when she asked big man Eloy Vargas the big question.
Friday Natascha Richardson waited hours at an autograph session, and in that time she worked up the nerve to ask UK basketball player and national champ Eloy Vargas to her prom that night.
"It was my turn to get an autograph and I was just like, what are you doing tonight, and he was like, what are you doing tonight, and I was like, you should go to prom with me and it just kind of happened and I was like ahh, cool," said Natascha Richardson.
"She didn't have no date so I thought, I should do something for her," said Eloy Vargas.
The 17-year-old student at Gatton Academy says the night was a dream come true because she is a huge UK basketball fan.
"It's amazing, I can't believe it actually happened, it was just so cool, I can't stop smiling, I'm still freaking out," said Richardson.
Like any prom, the two would eat and hit the dance floor together.
Vargas says he thought Natascha was sweet and wanted to give her a nice memory.
"It's a lot of blessings to be a part of this thing right now and be over here, part of this girl's life and making her dream come true," said Vargas.
As you might imagine, Vargas was a huge hit with Natascha's classmates.
"I think it speaks to his character, he seems like a really nice guy and it was really cool of him to do that," said Gatton Junior, David Brown.
Prom might can be magical and for Natascha spending her night with a national champ made her night the best of her life.
In one report the 6-foot-11 Vargas says he agreed to be Richardson's prom date on the condition that he could wear a sweater and jeans since he didn't have time to pick up the proper clothes for the event.
Vargas says he's glad he had the opportunity to make Natascha's prom night special.
