Kentucky's smaller airports to get state funding

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Gov. Steve Beshear has announced an initiative to help Kentucky's small airports leverage more funds from the Federal Aviation Administration.

That will be done by putting up $425,000 in state funding to cover a required local match on federal grants.

In all, 46 general aviation airports would benefit.

Beshear said the state's smaller airports are important to business and economic development in communities across the state.
