KNOX COUNTY, Ky (WYMT) - Troopers with Kentucky State Police say they received the call about 10:00PM Saturday about a road collision involving an ambulance on US Highway 25e in the Gray Community of Knox County.

The ambulance, carrying a patient at the time, was being driven by employees of the Knox County Ambulance Service. Troopers say there are no plans for a criminal investigation. Officials with the ambulance service say the driver will likely take a leave of absence, but will not face disciplinary action.

Many details are still unknown at this point, but ambulance service officials are calling the situation a tragedy, and say they wish to express this statement to everyone affected:

“We're sorry the accident happened, and [we] will all being praying for them as well as our own,” Trent said.
