A Knox County mother is facing charges, accused of crashing her car and injuring her two infant children, all while police say she was intoxicated!
Deputies with the Knox County sheriff's department responded to the crash on Kentucky 1304 Tuesday afternoon about 4:30.
Police say they found the driver of the car, Shannan Messer, who told them she needed help.
Deputies noticed Messer appeared to be under the influence at the time.
Messer told deputies her twin six week old daughters were also in the wreck, but she took them to a nearby house.
Witnesses told officers one of the girls was lying in the front floor board on top of a garbage bag and the other was found in a baby carrier in the back that fell out when the door was opened.
Both girls were flown to UT Medical Center for their injuries.
At last check, they were in ICU.
Messer was treated for minor injuries.
She is facing DUI charges and two counts of wanton endangerment.
