Ky. residents can toss out old meds Saturday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Law enforcement agencies and others
across Kentucky are working together this weekend to accept expired
or unwanted prescription medications from residents.

Kentucky State Police spokesman Lt. David Jude says it's a way
for the agency to help bring an end to the rise in addiction to
prescription drugs and to keep drugs away from young people. State
police will accept medications at each post from 10 a.m. through 2
p.m. Saturday.

Lexington is also holding a Med Toss from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday at four locations. In Louisville, Jefferson County Public
Schools will participate by offering a collection site at VanHoose
Education Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Several other locations are
also accepting unwanted medications in the Louisville area as well.
