LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - The Laurel County Sheriff Department is using social media to track down wanted suspects.

The "Sheriff's Most Wanted" page on the agency's Facebook site has been up and running for about 18 months. The site features thumbnails of suspects the department has had trouble locating. Officers say the "Most Wanted" page has been getting great results.

"The same day, or the next day, we're getting tips - good tips - and we're picking these people up," said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo. "To date, everybody that we've posted on there is either close to being captured or has been captured."

Officers say thousands of people see the Facebook page on a regular basis, and all those extra eyes and ears are helping them make arrests.
