LAUREL Co. Ky. (WYMT) - Some say "Remember the Titans" is a movie about football.

Julius Campbell, Petey Jones, and Darryl "Blue" Stanton all played for that 1971 T.C. Williams High School Titans team for their first season of integrated football. All three men said the film is about much more.

The gym at North Laurel High School was packed Saturday evening. Campbell, Jones, and Stanton spoke with students about faith, adversities, and giving it your all.

North Laurel Head Football Coach Chris Larkey said, "Anytime you can learn from somebody older than you that's a benefit."

We asked Campbell what he learned most from his experience on the team. "I came out of it not judging a person by the color of their skin, trusting people, and learning to accept people being different," said Campbell.

Stanton said their message to students is how to love, appreciate, and develop teamwork.

Larkey said every year their football banquet features key speakers like aforementioned.

"It's not about winning playoff games," Larkey said. "It's about succeeding in life and that's what we want our kids to do."
