FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Lawmakers are still at odds on how to shore up Kentucky's financially troubled pension plans for state and local government retirees.
Legislative leaders said Tuesday that no talks have been held since Sunday.
Even so, Democratic House Speaker Greg Stumbo said he's optimistic a resolution will be reached in the final days of the current legislative session so that a special session won't have to be called later.
Gov. Steve Beshear has gotten personally involved in pension talks with a bipartisan group of legislative leaders. He said Tuesday that work on the issue will continue through a 1½-week legislative break that's set to begin Wednesday.
