LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Legos are becoming so popular in one central Kentucky library, that library staff are asking the community to donate more.

The Lego Club at the Tates Creek Library says the building blocks enhance kid’s creativity, and they seem to love it. The program is up to thirty children and library officials say they are running out of pieces. Librarian's say the program’s benefits can also make the jump over to reading as well.

"People wonder why Legos in the library, but really this Lego play can provide literacy" says Librarian Meggan Conway, "because children use their creativity, they use their minds, to gather these small parts into something bigger and that's what reading and storytelling is all about."

The next Lego in the Library meeting is scheduled for Saturday at the Tates Creek branch.
