HYDEN, Ky (WYMT) - The trial continued Tuesday for a man accused of murdering two people in Leslie County back in 2009.

Charles Dwight Watts is accused of murdering and robbing Kelly Johnson on April 18th, 2009, and then on April 21st prosecutors say he also murdered Chad Muncy.

Tuesday jurors heard the police interview with Watts from the day Chad Muncy was murdered.

Detectives asked Watts about a phone call that he made to a woman. Detectives said the caller ID showed it was Chad Muncy calling, but Watts was on the other end.

Watts told police he did not know the number on his caller ID, so he called it back from his phone. He says he has now idea how it happened.

Later detectives talked to Watts about the first murder of Kelly Johnson.

Watts tells the detectives in the recording that he was not even at Johnson's house the day of the murder, but he later changes his story after police tell him several witnesses put him on Johnson's porch with a gun that day.

He told police he went by to visit Kelly Johnson, but never went inside his house. He said the gun he was holding was Johnson's, and that Kelly was showing it to him.

Later in the day, Irma Gene Muncy took the stand. She is Chad Muncy's grandmother, but says she also called Watts her grandson since he was previously married to Chad Muncy's sister.

She says Watts told her in the days after the murder the details of how "the man" killed Kelly Johnson, but she did not tell police about this until last November, almost two and a half years later.

The defense asked Mrs. Muncy about who "the man" was. She said she believes it was Watts.

The defense attorney argued that the only way she knew these details was from the detectives case files that she says she has never seen.

Several other witnesses were also called to the stand Tuesday.
