Leslie County teenage boy still reported missing

HAZARD, KY - It’s been more than a week since a Leslie County teenager disappeared and now his family is asking for your help.

The family of 17-year-old Austin Deaton says they hope to have Austin back by the holidays.

Austin’s family members say they have called nearly everyone they know hoping that someone can help them.

They say Austin is just an ordinary teenage boy.

But last week, they became worried when something out of the ordinary happened.

Austin lives in Leslie County with his aunt, who says she knew something was wrong when she did not hear from Austin for hours.

Austin’s aunt, Sarah Collins, says he was last seen last Sunday in the Backwoods area of Hazard.

She says she has no idea where he could have gone, or why he would have left.

Collins said it's uncharacteristic of Austin to take off without warning anyone.

Hazard police say they searching for Austin but have not had any leads so far.

When Austin was last seen, he was wearing a maroon Leslie County cut-off t-shirt and cargo pants.

If anyone has any information, you should call the Hazard Police Department at 606-436-2222.
