Letcher Band talks about inaugural trip

WHITESBURG, Ky (WYMT) - The Letcher Central band is back in Kentucky after traveling to Washington D.C. for the Presidential Inaugural Parade.

They were the only band from Kentucky selected to perform in the parade.

Once they found out they had been invited, the band started fundraising for the trip and raised enough money to go.

Students say the experience in one they will never forget.

"It was an exhilarating feeling. It was a great rush of emotions all at once, and I'm really glad that I got to do it," said Hannah Blair, a trumpet player.

"It was an honor to go and play for the president. We have been working for this for a very large number of years, as long as I have been in band. It's a real honor and go out and do something so memorable, something that is going to go down in history," said Trevor Bledsoe, a trombone player.

The students also got to spend a day touring Washington D.C.
