Payne Gap, Ky. (WYMT)-- Letcher County sheriff's deputies made the biggest synthetic marijuana bust they say they have ever made in the county.

Deputies arrested Russell Peaks and Lawrence Sexton in connection with the bust Sunday.

"We had had several complaints about the residence," said Letcher County Sheriff Danny Webb.

Deputies charged Peaks with being a fugitive from another state, according to an arrest citation.

Sexton faces one count each of possession of controlled substance in the 2nd. degree, possession of synthetic drugs, and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia, according to another arrest citation.

Webb has been battling synthetic marijuana in the county for years, but feels this bust will take some off the streets.

"The less that we have selling to our people, the better off we are," said Webb.

One neighbor who did not want to be identified was also pleased with the arrest.

"There's quite a few children, probably four in the neighborhood, that play up and down this hill together," he said.
