WHITESBURG, Ky (WYMT) - A Letcher County man is behind bars for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
The Letcher County sheriff says his deputies went to do a "knock and talk" with Mark Hogg after receiving complaints about some Facebook posts.
The arrest citation says the comments were in reference to the recent Connecticut shooting and also talked about a hatred of children.
"We have to take those things serious. We can't set here and let something like that happen and not do something about it," said Sheriff Danny Webb.
No charges have been filed in connection with the Facebook posts, but while police were talking to Hogg the arrest citation says he lunged at them.
He is charged with menacing and third degree assault of a police officer.
He pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning.
