HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Hundreds of people heard some great old songs Wednesday night in Hazard

The Greater Hazard Area Performing Arts Series presented "Appalachian Winter Homecoming: A Tribute to Jean Ritchie” at the forum.

It featured several high school choirs, the Voices of Appalachia from Alice Lloyd College and the HCTC Kentucky School of Bluegrass and Traditional Music.

Jean Ritchie is a nationally known folk singer and dulcimer player who is also a Perry County native.

She was unable to attend due to some health problems.

She will be 90 years old in December.
