Several local children are receiving a valuable lesson in the power of giving.

Students at the Hazard Lion's Club Montessori School are taking part in a Christmas food drive.

Each student was asked to bring in a bag full of non perishable items that will be donated to senior citizens.

When the food drive wraps up next week, the children will be able to personally deliver the food to those in need.

"We teach them that Christmas is not only about receiving gifts but giving to the community and giving things,” Emma Davidson said.

This is the second food drive the school has held this year.
All the proceeds from the first drive went to the homeless shelter.
