A Pike County pharmacy is robbed in broad daylight, but police quickly found their suspect. They say 30 year old John Wesley Wright robbed the store and took prescription drugs.
The employees at Care More pharmacy in Dorton say they were not expecting this to happen, especially right after the Christmas holiday. They say they are just grateful no one was hurt.
"It's one of those Oh my god, I can't believe that just happened situations," said Julie Baldridge, one of the pharmacists who worked there.
That's what pharmacists at the Care More pharmacy are saying about Monday mornings robbery.
"A guy came in. Mask, hooded sweatshirt, coveralls and all that thing, with a gun and demanded prescription medication," Baldridge said.
"He said this is a robbery and give me and he told us the three kind of medicines that he wanted," said Wanda Osborne, another pharmacy tech.
She says she was the one who rounded up the drugs.
"He followed me and he had a gun that was sticking out from under. It was all covered up but he did have a gun," said Osborne.
She says that was the scariest part.
"All the thought that I think is get the medicine, get it to him and get him out of here. That's the most important thing, to get him out," she explained.
The suspect did get away, but it wasn't long before police found John Wesley Wright and arrested him. The pharmacists say they were surprised when they found out he allegedly did it.
"It's kind of a shock to know it's somebody local. This is such a tight-knit community so it's a hard thing when it's somebody who is so close," Baldridge said.
The Care More pharmacy did have to close for a short time on Monday, but things are back to normal now. John Wright was arrested on unrelated warrants but also charged with first degree robbery.
