Six year old Callie Black only wants two things, her two front teeth and her dad to come home from Iraq. On Friday morning, one of those wishes came true.
Hunter Hills Elementary School Principal Brian Bond help set the whole thing up. He decided he would pull Callie's class in to hear a story and then introduce the very special guest to read to them; Callie's dad, Thomas Black.
Principal Bond says for a second he thought Callie knew about the surprise
"I saw her peeking over at the door and I thought oh no she may know." says Bond.
Callie, on the other hand, didn't see it coming.
"I was shocked, I didn't know what to do." she says.
National Guardsman Thomas Black says words can't even describe how it feels to be home
"It's almost like you live in black and white and when you come back everything is in color." Black says.
And while Black is home his focus is on the little things in life
"Nothing elaborate just getting back to the basics of quality time with the family and doing some things with them."
Like helping Callie get those two front teeth.
Black says his return is temporary. He plans on staying two weeks before returning back to Iraq but he hopes to be back home by Christmas.
