What started off as an empty gym, quickly changed to standing room only. Corbin Middle School students came together Wednesday morning to pray for their friends, family, school and nation.

"This is an awesome thing to think that almost one hundred percent of our school has been involved in praying this morning before the school day began." says middle school teacher, Jenni Lou Jackson.

The event was led entirely by First Priority members, a student run organization that believes God has a place in schools.

"I can lead students to Christ and I can lead people to Christ. I can actually go out and do mission in my community even though I am young." eighth grader Josie Sproles says.

The morning kicked off with the national anthem, followed by the pledge of allegiance. More than two hundred students then participated in a prayer led by eighth grader Jaxon Stewart.

Students then broke up into small groups where they were allowed personalize their prayer.

"Most of the people in my group don't really go to church and it was just great to see them pray like that." says Justin Fee, who led one of the group prayers.

As everyone went their separate ways, eighth grader Alayna Jones said there was one thing she hoped students took with them.

"I hope that they know that Christ is with them wherever they go, not to be scared." Jones says.

Leaders with First Priority say they hope this event will bring more members into their group, which meet's every Friday at school.
