Longtime Pike County educator passes away

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Frank Welch, a longtime educator in the Pike County school system, has died at age 78.

Welch began his tenure in 1957 as a teacher at Belfry High School where he later became principal.

In 1998 he stepped down as principal from the high school and assumed the position of superintendent. He served in that role until his retirement.

WYMT-TV is currently waiting for information regarding funeral arrangements.
