LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The federal mine safety agency has made a couple of changes to its list of public hearings on a proposed rule affecting exposure to coal mine dust and added a site for a hearing in Kentucky.

The hearings start Tuesday in Beaver, W.Va. After a holiday break, there are three hearings in January, in Evansville, Ind.; Birmingham, Ala.; and Salt Lake City. Three more are scheduled in February, including one Feb. 10 in Prestonsburg, Ky., as well as dates in Washington, Pa.; and Arlington, Va.

The Labor Department's Mine Safety and Health Administration has posted the proposed rule on its website at http://www.msha.gov/REGS/FEDREG/PROPOSED/2010Prop/2010-25249.pdf.

People who wish to speak during the hearings are encouraged to notify MSHA in advance for scheduling by calling (202) 693-9440. Written comments or other information may be submitted to MSHA after the hearings but by Feb. 28.
