HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The man accused of killing a Perry County doctor appeared in court Thursday.

Police say John C. Combs gunned down Dr. Dennis Sandlin at the Leatherwood-Blackey clinic in December 2009.

Combs appeared at a status hearing Thursday in Perry County Circuit Court.

Special Judge John David Caudill heard several motions by the defense, including one to require questionnaires for potential jurors, which the judge denied.

Combs has pleaded not guilty.

Jury selection is set to begin July 22.
