Man accused of shooting at Knox County utility worker

FLAT LICK, Ky. (WYMT) - A southern Kentucky utility worker is safe and unharmed after being shot at while on the job.

The incident happened Friday on Possom Hollow Road in the Flat Lick community of Knox County.

"Our dispatcher received a call that a utility worker had been shot at while trying to disconnect a water meter," Knox County Sheriff's Deputy Roy Gambrel said. "He said he was out disconnecting the water when the gentleman came at him with a gun and fired a shot over his truck."

The utility worker, Bill Mills, was trying to turn the water off because the bill had not been paid.

"He said the subject in question made statements that if law enforcement showed up then he would kill them and the utility worker if they came to his residence," Gambrel said.

Sheriff's deputies went to the home and arrested Gregory Lamb, 41.

"We got him out and made sure the scene was safe," Gambrel said. "We made sure he didn't have any weapons on him. During the investigation he admitted to firing a firearm. He stated he fired the firearm into the ground."

Lamb was taken to the Knox County Jail and charged with wanton endangerment. WYMT requested an interview with him but he declined.

Lamb is set to be arraigned Monday in Knox District Court.

WYMT tried but was unable to get in touch with Mills.
