Man admits to role in 1998 murder

WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A man has admitted to his role in a murder case that was cold for years.

Police say Shane Elkins of Wayne County, West Virginia pleaded guilty in the January,1998 murder of Michael Dean Bartley of Ezel in Morgan County.

Police say in 2011, they learned Elkins and his father were involved in the murder.

Elkins was already serving a life sentence for killing his father in 2007.

He was extradited back to Kentucky in August, 2012 to stand trial for his role in Bartley's murder.

He will be sentenced February 25th.
