CLAY COUNTY, Ky (WYMT) - A woman is recovering after a one-step meth lab was opened close to her face.
The Clay County Sheriff's Department responded to a domestic complaint when they say they smelled an odor coming from the house.
Police arrested 24-year-old Christopher Thompson for making meth and then opening the bottle in his aunt's face.
"He was shaking it and shaking it and shaking it, and I said Chris what are you doing stop it," said Thompson's Aunt Lorene Kelsey.
That's when she says her nephew opened the bottle near her face.
"My lips had blood all around. It was in my lungs they gave me breathing treatments," said Kelsey.
Thompson was arrested at the scene before police even found the meth lab for assault charges.
Lorene Kelsey says she constantly sees the devastation that drugs can have in people's lives, and now she knows first hand just how dangerous it is.
"Can you win the war? If you believe it, own it, claim it. You will win it, but if you stop and give up, you won't," said Kelsey.
She says she will keep fighting to one day see a drug free community.
Thompson is charged with fourth degree assault, manufacturing meth and wanton endangerment.
