Man arrested in Harlan County copper theft case

CUMBERLAND, Ky. (WYMT) - One Harlan County man is behind bars, charged with stealing copper in a series of thefts.

Troopers arrested 34 year old Timothy Shepherd on Wednesday.

We are told Shepherd is accused of stealing copper from an Appalachian Wireless cell phone tower site several times in the last few weeks.

Late last week, officers found part of the stolen wire being stripped by Shepherd at a home in Cumberland.

He is being held in the Harlan County Detention Center.
